NBCU Academy’s 'Wicked: For Good' Poster Contest

Official Rules 

October 10, 2025 – November 7, 2025 

PRELIMINARY INFORMATION:  NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A purchase will not improve your chances of winning. Void where prohibited. NBCU Academy Wicked Poster Competition (“Contest”) will begin on October 10, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. ET and end on November 7, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. ET (“Contest Period”). All times in the Contest refer to Eastern Time (“ET”). Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws.   

 

ELIGIBILITY: Open only to teachers of grades six (6) through twelve (12) engaged by participating public or non-profit schools who are legal residents of and whose schools are located in one (1) of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia (excluding Puerto Rico, Guam, the Virgin Islands and other United States territories) (“Participant Schools”), with a classroom composed of no more than thirty-five (35) students, who have an active NBCU Academy account and sign up to receive instructions on the Contest at https://my.nbcuacademy.com/ (the “Website”), and who are eighteen (18) years of age or older and the age of majority in their state of residence as of the start of the Contest Period (the “Entrants” and each an “Entrant”).  Officers, directors, and employees of Contest Entities (as defined below), members of these persons’ immediate families (spouses and/or parents, children, and siblings, and each of their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside), and/or persons living in the same households as these persons (whether or not related thereto) are not eligible to enter or win the Contest. Contest Entities, as referenced herein, shall include NBCUniversal Media, LLC, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, New York, NY 10112 (“Sponsor”) and each of their respective parent, subsidiary, and affiliate companies, and their administrative, advertising, and promotion agencies, and any other entity involved in the development, administration, promotion, or implementation of the Contest. It is the responsibility of any Entrant to ensure that their participation in the Contest is in compliance with applicable regulation and policies, including any government gift and ethics rules applicable to you. If you have questions about whether you or your school can accept a prize for this Contest, please contact your organization’s ethics office, legal counsel or designated official. By participating in this Contest, you are confirming your school is eligible to receive a prize if selected as a winner. If you are an employee of the public sector (government and education) or any state-owned entity, all Prizes, as defined below in the Prizes section, will be awarded directly to your public sector organization and subject to your return of a Sponsor-provided prize letter signed by your agency/institution’s ethics officer, attorney, or designated executive/officer responsible for your organization’s gifts/ethics policy. The Sponsor seeks to ensure that by offering items of value at no charge in promotional settings it does not create any violation of the Participant School’s applicable gifts and ethics rules. 

 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TEACHERS/TO ENTER: As part of your Entry (defined below), you will be required to submit at least one (1) but not more than ten (10) original posters (“Posters” and each a “Poster”) created by your students (“Student Participants”) on the following theme: “design a poster capturing the magical world of the movie Wicked: For Good” (the “Film”). Poster may be referred to herein as “Submission” or “Submissions.” The Submission(s) must have been created by your Student Participants. You will choose up to ten (10) winning Submissions from all class sections you teach to submit as your Entry. Submission(s) must be submitted according to the instructions provided on the Website and meet the following criteria:  

 

  1. Submission must be original. 
  2. Submission must be submitted in the English language. 
  3. Submission cannot have been created professionally. 
  4. Submissions may not have watermarks. 
  5. Submissions may not use names or images of real people, including any individuals who appear in the Film. Submissions may include artistic interpretations of characters from the Film, so long as they do not resemble any actual person. 
  6. Submissions should not include characters from Film that are not included in the film Wicked.  
  7. Submissions may not directly re-create any existing posters for the Film or any derivatives thereof. 
  8. Submissions may not include lyrics from songs in the Film. 
  9. Submissions may not include any content from other media, including motion pictures (including the Wizard of Oz), plays (including the Wicked stage play), books, television series, songs, etc. 
  10. Submissions may not include any third-party names, logos, or other intellectual property. 
  11. Submissions may not use or incorporate artificial intelligence (“AI”). For the avoidance of doubt, students may not use any AI in connection with this Contest, including uploading any assets from the Film into any AI platform for inspiration or using AI to generate ideas for the Submissions. 

 

To enter the Contest, during the Contest Period, visit the Website, click on the Contest link, and follow the provided instructions to submit the entry form, which includes your full name, email address, name of your school, your school’s mailing address, name of your school district, how you would like us to refer to your classroom, how many total students created Posters under your guidance, and the grade level of your Student Participants and Submission(s) (the “Entry”, collectively “Entries”).

 

If you choose to submit your Entry via your web-enabled mobile device, data rates may apply. See your wireless service provider for details on rates and capabilities. Entries will not be acknowledged or returned.  

 

You must submit the Submission(s) as part of your Entry to enter the Contest. Sponsor does not claim ownership of Entries, however, by entering the Contest, Entrants grant Sponsor the non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable, transferable, and irrevocable right and license to use, reproduce, copy, publish, display, distribute, perform, translate, adapt, modify, and otherwise exploit the Submissions and to incorporate the Submissions in other works in any and all markets and media worldwide in perpetuity. Entrants warrant that they have the sole and exclusive right to grant such rights to Sponsor and that Sponsor’s reproduction, publishing, displaying, and/or other use of the Submissions will not infringe on any rights of third parties, including, without limitation, copyright, trademark, privacy, or publicity, or create claims for defamation, false light, idea misappropriation, intentional or negligent infliction of emotional distress, or breach of contract. If any Submission contains material that is violent, pornographic, obscene, illegal, inappropriate, or racially or morally offensive or if any Submissions do not comply with these Official Rules or meet Sponsor’s standards for any reason, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, such Submissions (and the related Entries) may be rejected as ineligible for consideration and/or deleted from the Website. Entries must comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Sponsor shall have no obligation to copy, publish, display, or otherwise exploit the Submissions. Sponsor may choose to broadcast on-air and/or display on the Website a selection of Submissions from the Finalists as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. By entering the Contest, each Entrant agrees to the posting of such Entrant’s name and Submission on the Website and/or on Sponsor’s websites, social media accounts, channels, platforms and pages, including, but not limited to, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. The Entrant must have signed waivers (“Permission Forms”) from each student’s parent or legal guardian permitting the Contest Entities to use the student’s name and likeness in connection with the Contest, including the right to post such student’s name and Poster on the Website and/or on the Contest Entities’ websites, social media accounts, channels, platforms and pages, including, but not limited to, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. The Entrant acknowledges that at the time the Entry is submitted, Entrant has received signed Permission Forms for each student who created a Poster included as part of the Entry. Template Permission Forms can be downloaded from the Website here: https://nbcuacademy.com/parental-permission. Finalists (as defined below) will be required to provide all signed Permission Forms upon request.  

 

USE OF THE ASSETS: Contest Entities grant Entrants a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to create Posters based on assets, themes, characters, and other materials from the Film (the “Content”) solely for the purpose of creating and submitting the Entry for this Contest. This license is granted exclusively for use in connection with this Contest and does not grant any rights of ownership or further use. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by Sponsor. Sponsor reserves the right to revoke this license at any time, in its sole discretion and without prior notice, including in the event that an entry is determined to:  

  • Misuse Sponsor’s Content or other content owned by Sponsor beyond the scope of this Contest; 
  • Include or imply unauthorized endorsement by Sponsor, its brands, or its talent; 
  • Breach any applicable laws, platform terms of service, or these Official Rules. 

Use of Sponsor content for commercial purposes, resale, sublicensing, public display outside this Contest, or in any context that may damage Sponsor’s reputation is strictly prohibited. All entries must be removed from any personal or public-facing platforms upon request by Sponsor. 

 

All elements of Sponsor content remain the sole and exclusive property of Sponsor or its affiliates. Any derivative works created in connection with this Contest are subject to Sponsor’s rights.  

 

I understand that I do not obtain any rights in the Content, the Film, or other intellectual property of Sponsor or its affiliates used in by Entry by virtue of entering this Contest. 

 

Limit one (1) Entry per person during the Contest Period composed of up to ten (10) Submissions. If you have multiple classrooms, you must select ten (10) Posters across your classrooms to submit as your Entry. Multiple Entries received from any person beyond this limit will void all such additional Entries. Entries generated by a script, macro, or other automated means or by any means that subverts the entry process will be disqualified. Entries must be received before November 7, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. ET be eligible for the Contest. Sponsor’s computer shall be the official timekeeper for all matters related to this Contest. Entries that are incomplete, garbled, corrupted, fraudulent, or unintelligible for any reason, including, but not limited to, computer or network malfunction or congestion, are void and will not be accepted. In case of a dispute over the identity of an Entrant, the authorized account holder of the email address used to enter will be deemed to be the Entrant. “Authorized account holder” of an email address is defined as the person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the email address submitted at the time of Entry.  Entry constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) to use Entrant name, city, state, likeness, image, and/or voice for purposes of advertising, promotion, and publicity in any and all media now or hereafter known, throughout the world in perpetuity, without additional compensation, notification, permission, or approval.   

PRIVACY: It is important that you read these Official Rules, together with any other terms, releases, and notices that we may provide on specific occasions when we are collecting or processing personal information about you, so that you are aware of how and why we are using such information. If there are third parties involved in NBCU Academy or this Contest who have collected your personal information directly from you, they may use your information in accordance with their own privacy and cookie notices, which you should also read.  

Entrants may have the opportunity to receive information from Sponsor and selected partners by checking the appropriate box(es). If, at any time, you no longer wish to receive materials from Sponsor or our partners, please go to our privacy policy, located at https://www.nbcuniversal.com/privacy or the applicable partner’s privacy policy and follow the procedures indicated.  

 

JUDGING AND WINNER NOTIFICATION: On or about November 21, 2025, one (1) or more qualified judges selected by Sponsor (“Judges”) will review all eligible Entries received during the Contest Period and select two (2) potential winners (collectively, “Winners”, each a “Winner”) based on the following judging criteria (“Judging Criteria”): shows the ability to be inventive and creative with the Wicked: For Good storyline (20%), effectively communicates the film’s themes, characters and/or locations through text and visuals (20%), The color scheme used in the poster aligns to the color scheme of Wicked: For Good (20%), the poster design is captivating, taking into account key design principles such as symmetry and proportions (20%), and depicts parity between Glinda and Elphaba’s world, characters and themes (20%), including one (1) Winner from classrooms of grades six (6) through eight (8) and one (1) Winner from classrooms of grades nine (9) through twelve (12). The selection and review process may occur on a rolling basis as Entries are received. There will be a total of two (2) potential Winners selected during the entire Contest Period In the event of a tie, the Judges will break the tie by selecting the tied Entrant who received the highest points from the Judges for effectively communicating the film’s themes, characters and/or locations through text and visuals as the potential Winner. In the event a tie remains, the tied entries will be judged by an additional tie-breaking judge, using the Judging Criteria, to determine which of the tied Entrants will be the potential Winner.  

 

Decisions of Sponsor and Judges are final and binding with respect to all matters related to the Contest. Winning is subject to verification of eligibility. Sponsor reserves the right to select fewer than two (2) Winners (or none at all) or to extend the Contest Period if the Contest does not receive a sufficient number of eligible and qualified Entries, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Sponsor will make two (2) attempts to notify potential Winners at the phone number and/or email address submitted at the time of Entry. Sponsor may share each potential Winner’s name and contact information with Contest Entities and/or any prize supplier, as applicable, if necessary. Potential Winner(s) may be required to execute and return an affidavit of eligibility, release of liability, and, except where prohibited, publicity release (collectively, “Contest Documents”) within two (2) days of such notification. Noncompliance within this time period will result in disqualification, and, at Sponsor’s sole discretion an alternate potential Winner may be selected from the remaining eligible Entries based on the Judging Criteria. If any potential Winner cannot be reached, is found to be ineligible, cannot or does not comply with these Official Rules, or if Prize (as defined below) or Prize notification is returned as undeliverable, such potential Winner will be disqualified and time permitting, at Sponsor’s sole discretion, an alternate potential Winner may be selected from the remaining eligible Entries. Limit one (1) Prize (defined below) per family or household.  

 

PRIZE: Winning Entrants will recommend their Participant School as the prize recipients.  Sponsor will review recommendations and make final determinations of prize recipients consistent with these Official Rules. As such, the Winners are chosen without any action on their part and are not required to perform services in the future. Prizes as defined in the following section will be distributed to the designated schools. There will be two (2) prizes awarded (collectively “Prizes” and each a “First Prize”) to the Winners. Each Prize consists of the following: up to thirty-five (35) twenty-five dollar ($25) Fandango giftcards (the “Fandango Code”). The number of Fandango Codes awarded will be equal to the number of students enrolled in the Winner’s classroom, up to thirty-five (35).   

 

This is a skill-based Contest. Odds of winning a prize will depend on the number and quality of eligible Entries received, and the relative skill of Student Participants. Prize will be awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied by Sponsor. Prize is subject to certain terms and conditions as specified by issuer. Restrictions may apply.

Estimated Retail Value (“ERV”) of each Prize is up to eight hundred seventy-five dollars ($875). Total ERV of all Prizes is one thousand seven hundred fifty dollars ($1,750). Actual Retail Value (“ARV”) of Prize may vary. Any difference between ERV and ARV will not be awarded.  

 

All details of Prize will be determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute Prize (or portion thereof) with a similar prize (or prize element) of comparable or greater value. All taxes and other expenses, costs, or fees associated with the acceptance and/or use of Prize are the sole responsibility of prize recipients. Prize cannot be transferred by prize recipient or redeemed for cash and is valid only for the items detailed above, with no substitution of Prize by prize recipient. If Prize is unclaimed within a reasonable time after notification from Sponsor, as determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion, it will be forfeited, and time permitting, an alternate Winner may be selected from the remaining eligible Entries at Sponsor’s sole discretion.   

 

IDEA MISAPPROPRIATION WAIVER: By entering the Contest and submitting an Entry, Entrants agree to and acknowledge the following: “I understand that although I may believe my Entry to be unique and novel, there may be preexisting ideas, concepts, or proposals that are similar to my Entry.” Entrants recognize that other persons, including Sponsor’s own employees, may have submitted to Sponsor or its affiliates (including, without limitation, Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation, NBC West, Universal Television, USA Cable Entertainment, SYFY, Universal Cable Productions, Universal Network Television, Bravo Media, Oxygen Media, E!, Esquire, Wilshire Studios, Cloo, Chiller, Sprout, MSNBC, CNBC, Peacock Productions, Stamford Media Center & Productions, Telemundo, NBC Universo, Fluency, Telemundo Internacional, NBC Owned Television Stations, NBCUniversal Television Distribution, NBCUniversal Television Studio Digital Development, and Peacock TV (collectively, “NBCUniversal”) or others, or made public, or may in the future originate and submit or make public, similar or identical ideas, concepts, or proposals that NBCUniversal may have the right to use, and Entrants understand that they will not be entitled to any compensation because of NBCUniversal’s use of such similar or identical ideas, concepts, or proposals in any manner.  Entrants further understand and agree that NBCUniversal’s use of material containing features or elements similar or identical to those contained in their Entry will not obligate NBCUniversal to negotiate with entrant or entitle him or her to any compensation if NBCUniversal determines that it has an independent legal right to use that other material for any reason (for example, because the features or elements are not new or novel, were not originated by Entrants, or were or may hereafter be independently created and submitted by other persons, including NBCUniversal employees). 

 

CONDITIONS: By entering the Contest, each Entrant agrees for Entrant and for Entrant’s heirs, executors, and administrators (a) to release and hold harmless Contest Entities and each of their respective officers, directors, agents, and employees (collectively, “Released Parties”) from any liability, illness, injury, death, loss, litigation, or damage that may occur, directly or indirectly, whether caused by negligence or not, from such Entrant’s participation in the Contest and/or Entrant’s acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of Prize or any portion thereof (including any travel related thereto); (b) to indemnify Released Parties from any and all liability resulting or arising from the Contest and to hereby acknowledge that Released Parties have neither made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to Prize, including express warranties provided exclusively by prize supplier that are sent along with Prize; (c) if selected as a Winner, to the posting of such Entrant’s name on the Website and the use by Released Parties of such name, city, state, likeness, image, and/or voice for purposes of advertising, promotion, and publicity in any and all media now or hereafter known, throughout the world in perpetuity, without additional compensation, notification, permission, or approval, and, upon request, to the giving of consent, in writing, to such use; (d) if selected as a Winner, in accordance with the Permission Forms, that Sponsor has the right to the post of such Entrant’s Student Participants’ first names on the Website and the use by Released Parties of such name, city, state, likeness, image, and/or voice of the Student Participants for purposes of advertising, promotion, and publicity in any and all media now or hereafter known, throughout the world in perpetuity, without additional compensation, notification, permission, or approval, and, upon request, to the giving of consent, in writing, to such use; and (e) to be bound by these Official Rules and to waive any right to claim any ambiguity or error therein or in the Contest itself, and to be bound by all decisions of the Sponsor, which are binding and final. Failure to comply with these conditions may result in disqualification from the Contest at Sponsor’s sole discretion. 

 

ADDITIONAL TERMS: Sponsor reserves the right to permanently disqualify from any promotion any person they believe has intentionally violated these Official Rules.  Any attempt to deliberately damage the Contest or the operation thereof is unlawful and subject to legal action by Sponsor, who may seek damages to the fullest extent permitted by law. The failure of Sponsor to comply with any provision of these Official Rules due to an act of God, hurricane, war, fire, riot, earthquake, terrorism, act of public enemies, actions of governmental authorities outside of the control of Sponsor (excepting compliance with applicable codes and regulations), or other “force majeure” event will not be considered a breach of these Official Rules. Released Parties assume no responsibility for any injury or damage to Entrants’ or to any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from entering or downloading materials or software in connection with the Contest. Released Parties are not responsible for telecommunications, network, electronic, technical, or computer failures of any kind; for inaccurate transcription of Entry information; for errors in any promotional or marketing materials or in these Official Rules; for any human or electronic error; or for Entries that are stolen, misdirected, garbled, delayed, lost, late, damaged, or returned. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, modify, or suspend the Contest or any element thereof (including, without limitation, these Official Rules) without notice in any manner and for any reason (including, without limitation, in the event of any unanticipated occurrence that is not fully addressed in these Official Rules). In the event of cancellation, modification, or suspension, Sponsor reserves the right to select Winners in a random drawing from among all eligible, non-suspect Entries received prior to the time of the event warranting such cancellation, modification, or suspension. Notice of such cancellation, modification, or suspension will be posted on the Website.  Sponsor may prohibit any Entrant or potential Entrant from participating in the Contest, if such Entrant or potential Entrant shows a disregard for these Official Rules; acts with an intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other Entrant, Sponsor, or Sponsor’s agents or representatives; or behaves in any other disruptive manner (as determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion). Sponsor reserves the right to modify these Official Rules for clarification purposes without materially affecting the terms and conditions of the Contest. Sponsor seeks participants to comply with its Code of Conduct, Company policies, and any laws, policies and regulations of any applicable jurisdiction in connection with this contest. By accepting, you acknowledge that your acceptance of the Prize complies with all applicable local laws and regulations, as well as your school’s internal policies. 

 

DISPUTES: The CONTEST is governed by, and will be construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of NEW YORK, and the forum and venue for any dispute shall be in NEW YORK, NEW YORK. If THE controversy or claim is not otherwise resolved through direct discussions or mediation, it shall THEN be resolved by FINAL AND binding arbitration administered by JUDICIAL ARBITRATION AND MEDIATION SERVICES, INC., in accordance with its Streamlined Arbitration Rules and Procedures or subsequent versions thereof (“JAMS Rules”). The JAMS Rules for selection of an arbitrator shall be followed, except that the arbitrator shall be experienced and licensed to practice law in NEW YORK. All proceedings brought pursuant to this paragraph will be conducted in the County of NEW YORK, NEW YORK. THE REMEDY FOR ANY CLAIM SHALL BE LIMITED TO ACTUAL DAMAGES, AND IN NO EVENT SHALL ANY PARTY BE ENTITLED TO RECOVER PUNITIVE, EXEMPLARY, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING ATTORNEY’S FEES OR OTHER SUCH RELATED COSTS OF BRINGING A CLAIM, OR TO RESCIND THIS AGREEMENT OR SEEK INJUNCTIVE OR ANY OTHER EQUITABLE RELIEF.
